Nomads of Sehnsucht is a dynamic collective of photographic artists who push the boundaries of photography through experimentation and collaboration. Rooted in curiosity and a desire to explore the medium's potential, our collective creates work that transcends traditional photography, aiming to develop a distinct visual language that captures the essence of indefinable desires—Sehnsucht.
We utilize a diverse array of techniques, from digital innovations to the timeless craft of analogue photography. Whether through cutting-edge technology or meticulous darkroom processes, each work is an associative visual journey that reflects the unique vision of its creator. This blend of methodologies fosters a rich tapestry of work that is both thought-provoking and visually captivating.
As a collective, we are committed to engaging with our public beyond the confines of a traditional gallery. Our nomadic nature allows us to host pop-up exhibitions and events in various locations. Our nomadic approach ensures that our work is seen and appreciated in diverse contexts.
Current artists:

History
Galerie Sehnsucht started out as a gallery of photographic art at the iconic Hofbogen in Rotterdam, giving emerging and seasoned photographers a change to exhibit their work. Galerie Sehnsucht was founded by Mark van Hattem and Mariska Pool in 2018. After some years the gallery decided to exchange the permanent location for a nomadic existence, organising pop-up exhibitions outside the former gallery walls.
"The Sehnsucht-photographers look for the edges of photography in many ways. From experimental photography with new cameras to daring adventures with old cameras. You often have to watch and think twice when you look at our work!"
