Photographers’ collective Nomads of Sehnsucht finds a sublime temporary home with its exhibition on the theme ‘The Hidden Source’ in the beautiful Garden Gallery of Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
The Nomads of Sehnsucht take up the challenge to express the deeper meaning of 'The Hidden Source' as a theme. An ambiguous, elusive theme, which can imply both an abstract and a personal concept. It is a universal human search for the source of inspiration, wisdom and creativity, which often seems hidden and difficult to grasp.
This search for a hidden source is reflected in the works of art that we show in our exhibition. The Nomads let themselves be taken on a journey through the magical realm of the imagination, discovering new worlds and reaching for the indefinable, in their longing for 'The Hidden Source'.
In their work the Nomads of Sehnsucht experiment with the boundaries of photography. Partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of an effort to arrive at an individual visual language, suitable for depicting indefinable desires - Sehnsucht. The work is made with digital and analogue cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. An interesting, associative visual translation around the theme has thus been created.
