Photography plays an essential role in Louter's work. In her studio she creates staged photographic images that find their form in prints, installations and spatial objects. Her visual language is tranquil and layered, with a fascination for mystical and historical references.
Flowers and botanical shapes regularly return as a motif. They carry a layered symbolism within them – interwoven with art historical meanings and an intuitive, personal fascination. She builds her images with carefully chosen objects, with an emphasis on second-hand materials from thrift shops, which carry their own history and thus reinforce the layering and atmosphere that resonates in her work.
Growing up in an environment surrounded by art and antiques, she decided in 2007 to leave her career in ICT and management behind to delve into the visual arts, specializing in photography. "This step felt like a return to a world that had always been part of my life."
She attended the Photo Academy and graduated in 2011. Since then she has been working as an independent visual artist from her studio in Delft. Louter's work is regularly exhibited and she initiates and organizes art exhibitions and projects.
