"Morphogenesis"
Photographers’ collective Nomads of Sehnsucht finds a sublime temporary home with its exhibition on the theme ‘Morphogenesis’ in the beautiful Voorhout Gallery of Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
The Nomads of Sehnsucht enter the fascinating world of form formation. They explore the magical process of morphogenesis by which organisms develop their shapes and structures, and investigate deeper metaphorical meanings of the phenomenon.
In their work the Nomads of Sehnsucht experiment with the boundaries of photography. Partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of an effort to arrive at an individual visual language, suitable for depicting indefinable desires - Sehnsucht. The work is made with digital and analogue cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. An interesting, associative visual translation around the theme has thus been created.
Exhibiting Sehnsucht members: Annemarie van Buuren, Baukje Venema, Jacqueline Louter-Hoos, Nicole Hagesteijn and Olga Rook.
Opening: Saturday June 7, 2025
Period: June 7 to July 1, 2025
Address: Lange Voorhout 15, 2514 EA The Hague
"The Hidden Source"
Photographers’ collective Nomads of Sehnsucht finds a sublime temporary home with its exhibition on the theme ‘The Hidden Source’ in the beautiful Garden Gallery of Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
The Nomads of Sehnsucht take up the challenge to express the deeper meaning of 'The Hidden Source' as a theme. An ambiguous, elusive theme, which can imply both an abstract and a personal concept. It is a universal human search for the source of inspiration, wisdom and creativity, which often seems hidden and difficult to grasp.
This search for a hidden source is reflected in the works of art that we show in our exhibition. The Nomads let themselves be taken on a journey through the magical realm of the imagination, discovering new worlds and reaching for the indefinable, in their longing for 'The Hidden Source'.

'De Verborgen Bron'
Exhibition 'De Verborgen Bron' (The Hidden Source) is a unique collaboration between photographers collective Nomads of Sehnsucht and poets from the Literature Department of Haagse Kunstkring (The Hague Art Circle).
Together they take up the challenge to express the deeper meaning of 'The Hidden Source' as a theme. An ambiguous, elusive theme, which can involve both an abstract and a personal concept. It is a universal human search for the source of inspiration, wisdom and creativity, which often seems hidden and difficult to grasp. Poets and Nomads are taken on a journey through the magical realm of the imagination, discovering new worlds and reaching for the indefinable, in their longing for 'The Hidden Source'.
The poets of the Hague Art Circle selected and composed poems for this exhibition that fit the theme. The photographers of Nomads of Sehnsucht, in turn, reflected on these poems with their work. They experiment with the boundaries of photography, partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of an effort to arrive at their own visual language, suitable for depicting a indefinable desire - Sehnsucht. The work is made with digital and analogue cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. This has resulted in an interesting, associative exhibiton that can both be viewed and read. The works of art and poems are presented side by side.
Many thanks go to the poets of Haagse Kunstkring: Anne Tjerk Mante, Corina Engelbrecht, Gerrit Vennema, Hans Franse and Theo Monkhorst.
Sehnsucht members exhibiting in The Hague: Annemarie van Buuren, Baukje Venema, Jacqueline Louter-Hoos, Mariska Pool, Mark van Hattem, Nicole Hagesteijn and Olga Rook.

Art Month Ameland is an international cultural highlight, featuring an island-wide exhibition showcasing art in its broadest sense. This unique event runs throughout the entire month of November on the Dutch Wadden Island of Ameland.
The organization selects an international group of artists from Scandinavia, Germany, and the Netherlands. Historically, Amelanders sailed to the Baltic Sea for trade; now, art from this region is brought to Ameland, forming a Nordic Art Connection. Our photographers' collective proudly participates in this event in November 2022.
"Belle Epoque"
The exhibition 'Belle Epoque' is a unique collaboration between the photographer collective Nomads of Sehnsucht and poets from the Arts Department of the Hague Art Circle. Together they search for the atmosphere of the Belle Epoque, the beautiful time at the end of the nineteenth century. A time of prosperity and peace, in which art and literature flourished. The Hague writer Louis Couperus is an important exponent of our time. The poets of the Hague Art Circle selected and composed poems for this exhibition that fit the atmosphere of the Belle Epoque and Couperus' oeuvre.
The photographers of Nomads of Sehnsucht, in turn, made work on the poems. They experiment with the boundaries of photography, partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of a desire to arrive at their own visual language, suitable for depicting indefinable desires - Sehnsucht. The work was made with digital and antique cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. In this way, an interesting, associative image of the Belle Epoque has been created, which can be viewed and read. The works of art and poems are presented side by side.
Many thanks go to the poets of the Hague Art Circle: Corina Engelbrecht, Edith de Gilde, Gerrit Vennema, Hans Franse, Jan Bervoets and Mariet Lems.
